I'm Blown Away!

Thanks to all of you who participated in my giveaway with Cote de Texas. I can't begin express my gratitude for the overwhelming 350 comments received. It was amazing reading each and every one of them. Some of you were existing customers of Paris Hotel Boutique or followers of this blog, and many, fans of Cote de Texas.

It's difficult to put into words just how humbled I am that you took the time to comment in great detail. I am flattered by your kind words. It makes this job of selling online and blogging so meaningful and special. You rarely get to meet people in person working in a home-based business, but your comments made it feel as if we've met before.

Okay, I'll stop the "mushy" and "gushy," but your comments truly brightened up my world! And a big thanks to Joni for hosting the giveaway!

And, congrats to *Kristin* for winning the antique gilt mirror. It's on its way to you!

Inspiring Images...orange

Orange is generally not one of my favorite colors, but with the arrival of autumn, Halloween around the corner, and my home team, the S.F. Giants (their colors are orange & black), I can't get enough of it. How about you?

Here are some inspiring orange images from some talented photographers...

I'm Dancing!

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

I'm dancing for joy as our San Francisco Giants have made it into the World Series! They'll be duking it out with the Texas Rangers beginning on Wednesday. This City is just bursting with excitement and I can hardly contain myself! I'm not an avid baseball fan, but the World Series? WOW. Nothing like good old American baseball!

Have a great week ahead and GO GIANTS!!

Meet Crystal...

Halloween is my favorite holiday. I'm not sure why but I've always loved everything from the wonderful spooky decor, to childhood memories of sitting on the floor sorting my little candies after a night of "trick-or-treating" with my best friend.

Every year I try and purchase a new item to add to my little Halloween collection. My collection ranges from vintage jack-0-lanterns to new pieces crafted by talented artists.

Crystal creating in her studio

The other day I stumbled upon this fabulous site, VintagebyCrystal. Boston-based Crystal is a full-time crafter and creates amazing one-of-a-kind items by using antique and vintage materials.

All of Crystal's work is inspired by objects of the past. She specializes in cotton-spun ornaments and figures much like the ones that German artists made over 100 years ago.

AND, the talented Crystal has been featured on the Martha Stewart Show. You can watch her with Martha here.

So, what did I purchase from Crystal? A cotton-spun cat lady and a funny jack-o-lantern head figurine.

But I must tell you that her things sell quickly since they're one-of-a-kind. If you love her work as I do, get her updates by following her blog, her website, and her Etsy shop.

Her Christmas items will be for sale very shortly. And I'm jumping for joy as she has created a Chanukah line! I'll be buying up some of those treasures for sure!

Thanks Crystal...can't wait to get my little people!

Groovy Stewardesses!

Just stumbled upon this fab image via Pinterest. These colorful uniforms were designed by Emilio Pucci for Braniff International Airways in the 1960's. The uniforms had loud designs and were made into many parts so the stewardesses could mix and match according to their own style.

Check out some more Pucci for Braniff here. Fabulous!

Come Fly With Me!

Remember when airline travel was glamorous?

When you could arrive at the gate at 7:59 am for an 8:00 am flight?

When airport security meant no lines?

When there was actually such a thing as "leg room?"

When passengers would dress up special (no sweats or jeans) to take even the shortest flight? Perhaps with a cute train case?

When you were served a meal that consisted of three courses, served on a white tablecloth by a "stewardess" in a fancy pill box hat?

When the name "stewardess" wasn't politically incorrect?

When suitcases weren't all black so you could actually find your bag at baggage claim?

Aaaah...the good ole days...
